Background

This idea of Downloads and Images stems from our interaction with the cluster. We are able to host files on the cluster to make them available to others quite rapidly. Images can be uploaded to the wiki through the bar on the left if you have editing privileges. These both have different syntax in wikitext markup.

Downloads

Downloads can be made available through this common syntax:

[http://bionmr.unl.edu/files/misc/mediawikidownloads/This_is_a_file.name]

You will need to know how to put files in this directory or know someone who does.

Giving this a name can make it more user friendly such as:

[http://bionmr.unl.edu/files/misc/mediawikidownloads/academic-genealogy.pdf This is the Powers group academic Geneology.]

This appears as: This is the Powers group academic Geneology.

Images/Files

PDB:1bla

Using the upload function of mediawiki we can upload small files simply and display them in text as thumbnails.

The common syntax for this is: [[File:1bla-hi.png|thumb|right|alt=A multicolored Protein called 1bla|PDB:1bla]]

This would appear as on the figure on the right.
