Working with deuterated solvents

From Powers Wiki
  1. Turn on gas cylinder using main regulator
  2. Adjust with secondary regulator so that max PSI is about 150
  3. Place deuterated solvent under the nozzle and open cap
  4. Open and adjust tertiary regulator so that air flow is strong enough to displace headspace in the bottle but not so fast that things splash out
  5. Keep bottle under nozzle when not using it
  6. When finished tighten and seal bottle and turn off cylinder at main regulator
  7. Close tertiary regulator
  8. Close Hood

Important Notes

  • Deuterated solvents are expensive and must be treated with care to prevent exchange with H2O in the air.
  • Remember to tighten and seal all deuterated solvent bottles after each use
