M9 Minimal Media
Per liter of sterile water:
- 5X M9 salts* 200 mL
- 1M MgSO4 2 mL
- 20% glucose** 20 mL
- 1M CaCl2 0.1 mL
5X M9 salts
Per liter:
- Na2HPO4 64 grams
- KH2PO4 15 grams
- NaCl 2.5 grams
- NH4Cl 5 grams
In this recipe, 15N ammounium chloride and 13C glucose can be used to label proteins.
Glucose cannot be sterilized in the autoclave. It must be passed through a ~0.2μm membrane to be sterilized.
